Practice Update December 2021

Updated: Dec 15, 2021

Booster Vaccinations

We have now delivered > 2000 COVID-19 boosters to our Cherryvalley patients since mid October.

We are not planning any further clinics before Christmas due to widespread

availability of boosters. We would like to thank Knock Presbyterian Church whose help enabled us to deliver a very efficient and safe flu and booster campaign.

In light of the Omicron variant , the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation have stated that all individuals over 18 years old whose second dose was >3 months ago should avail of a Booster as soon as possible.

Boosters can be booked either via Community Pharmacy, or by attending a South Eastern Trust walk in clinic as detailed here. There are additional walk in clinics shown.

You may also be able to book an appointment at a Trust site via this link (eligibility for this system may change from week to week).

Practice Update

We are delighted with the outcome of the recent building work that has been carried out in Cherryvalley Health Centre. We know our patients will benefit from the improvements which include new flooring, lighting, heating system and paintwork throughout the building. We would like to thank the contractors who worked throughout the past few months with a high standard of workmanship, and professionalism.

We continue to liaise closely with our current telephone provider to improve access via our phone lines. We acknowledge that there have been considerable issues as we have tried to put a call waiting service in place and some calls have been cut off after lengthy waits. We do apologise for this, but assure you that we have continued to receive a high volume of calls and respond to both routine and urgent queries. Unfortunately we find that demand continues to significantly outstrip our capacity. We have had a greater than usual amount of sickness absence due to COVID-19 and other issues, and this has put us under further considerable pressure.

We would signpost you to other areas of our website including

  • Our prescriptions page as an alternative to the Repeat Prescriptions line

  • Our minor illness and self care page which has further information on other services such as 'PEARS' for minor eye complaints

  • Our 'Additional resources' page which contains information on support for emotional wellbeing and advice lines.

  • Our Pregnancy page which includes a link for self referral and other pregnancy resources.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our patients and their families a peaceful and healthy Christmas period.
