Travel Clinic

At present we do not provide a Specialised Travel Clinic in the Practice.  We recommend that you plan ahead at least three months in advance of departure date.

You can access travel advice from your local Pharmacy or the MASTA Clinic, based at Kerrsland Surgery, Upper Newtownards Road.

Alternatively you can look at www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk to see what vaccines are advised and, if available on NHS, we can administer these in the Treatment Room.

We would be happy to provide you with a copy of your vaccination record.

The following travel vaccinations are available free on the NHS:

  • Diptheria, Tetanus, Polio boosters (lasts at least 10 years)

  • Typhoid (lasts 3 years)

  • Hepatitis A (lasts 1 year unless repeated within a year in which case can confer immunity for 20 years)

  • Cholera (only needed if in high risk area, doing high risk work)

We would emphasise that you should seek Specialist advice through a private travel clinic if you need to consider other vaccines (eg Hep B, Japanese Encephalitis, Meningococcal, Rabies, Tick Borne Encephalitis or Yellow Fever) or if you need Malaria prevention tablets.  These are not covered by the NHS.
