Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccination: Winter 2025/6

We are pleased to announce the details of our upcoming seasonal vaccination campaign.

Eligibility for COVID / Flu Vaccination

Please note an important change to the eligible age range this year: COVID vaccination is now only available to patients who are 75 years and above. Our severely immunosuppressed patients will continue to be eligible for COVID vaccination. Further information is available here.

Flu vaccine remains available to patients 65 years old and above, as well as patients in ‘at risk’ categories below 65 years. The 'at risk' categories are detailed in the following resource:

Pre-school children (aged >2 years) will be invited to our nasal vaccine clinics.

Saturday 11^th October

FLU +/- COVID Vaccination Day

70 yrs + over

·      Patients who are 75 + over will be invited for FLU + COVID vaccination by letter (appointments after 11am). 

·      Patients who are 70 -74 years will be invited for FLU vaccination by text message (appointments 9am – 11am)

• If you are >70 years, you should have received an appointment to attend and do not need to contact the Practice to confirm or cancel.  You do not need to let us know in advance if you only wish to receive one vaccine on the day.

• If you are > 70 and have not received an appointment for this day, please contact the Practice.

We have a small number of patients who are 70-74 years and severely immunosuppressed, and therefore also eligible for COVID vaccination. You may attend the clinic after 11am if you wish to avail of both Flu and COVID vaccination on that day, or you may book into the relevant clinic as detailed below.

Scheduled Clinic Dates for other groups:

·      Patients >18 yrs who are severely immunosuppressed (eligible for FLU + COVID)

Clinics are running on the afternoons of Mon 20^th October and Tuesday 21^st October.  You will receive a text message and can proceed to book into the above clinics. Please note that covid vaccination is not available outside of these listed dates.

·      Patients who are 65 – 69 years (eligible for FLU) You will receive a text message and can book into clinics running from mid October – November.

·      Pre-school children You will receive a text message and can book into afternoon clinics running Monday 6^th October and Tuesday 7^th October.

Eligible patients can also avail of clinics running through Community Pharmacy and the Health Trusts.
